But we’re doing the same in America with our own constitution. We believed in this. It was the foundation of America. But now we don’t enforce it. All of us are supposed to—we all have to swear an oath of allegiance to the constitution. Even AOC swears that oath. Jack, don’t fall down, okay? Don’t fall out of your chair. But AOC said and recited in God’s name the same oath that I have taken to uphold and defend the constitution, the same one the president takes. And so, it’s astonishing that they actually swear that oath and then summarily violate it that very day, as soon as they walk into their office.
And so, that still really floors me, that that is the case. But hey, she’s pretty though, you know? Not hard to look at, but the rest of us are pretty hard to put up with. Anyway, these are just plants. They’re there to undermine them. How about that new one about—was that our same, the article about the sheriff being afraid of retaliation because he’s not totally on board with deportation in Iowa? Isn’t that Sheriff Dan Marks? I believe that was his name. I’ve got that article someplace here. Yeah, he’s worried about the Trump people coming after him as a result of trying not to fill up his jail is what he said.
Here it is. If it’s Sheriff Dan Marks, I’m surprised he didn’t call me first because he and I have discussed that a great deal. And I don’t think—I think if his message got to Trump, I don’t think Trump would be trying to go after him. I really don’t. But maybe we need to schedule a meeting with me and Sheriff Marks and President Trump. I’d like that. You don’t mind. I’ll run the show when you guys get together to do it. But yeah, I’m still trying to find that particular thing I sent over to you. Somehow I get disorganized here.
But that was—let’s see. I’m pretty sure it was Sheriff Marks, but the only reason I doubted it is because I thought he would call me first before, because we’ve had several conversations. And we’ve invited him on this webinar, but his lawyers tell him not to go public with stuff. If he doesn’t—if he’s not supposed to be going public with stuff, he probably shouldn’t be saying about he’s afraid of retaliation from Trump. But I would tell him definitely to stay calm about that. Anyway, that’s not him. If that’s the sheriff, that’s not him. This is an aisle— Somebody said Iowa.
Yeah, issuing a warning that this county may be publicly shamed by the administration, and due to their— Oh, it’s not him. It’s Joe Kennedy. Yeah, Joe Kennedy. Yeah, it’s not—oh, okay. Well, I have to call and apologize to Sheriff Marks, because he’s not the one that said it, and he’s obeying his lawyers to stay out of the press with what’s happening to him. Well, good. I’ll call Sheriff Kennedy. And, see, Trump has directed administration and executive order last month to publish a list of states and local jurisdictions that obstruct the federal immigration laws, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Anyway, he’s saying that he would agree with it. However, he feels that he might not have enough room in his jail. He wants to ensure he doesn’t end up with too few officers, jail beds, and dollars to respond to the county’s needs, which is a reasonable thing to do. That’s what he’s— I probably ought to hook him up with Tom Homan, because I think Tom Homan would have some surprises for him that would be very helpful to what his problem is. But, you know, look, every county jail goes up and down, and it’s a population, and it’s a jail population.
It happens. That’s just the way it is, with any jail anywhere—especially a county jail anywhere in America. First of all, you cannot be in that jail over a year. If it’s over a year, you go to prison. So the county jail can only hold you for a year, and usually it’s only for a few days or a few weeks. You go serve your DUI sentence for 60 days, and then you go home. And a lot of that is you get work release so that you don’t get fired and lose your job. And so a lot of the people in jails get work release, and we had that program when I was sheriff, and I liked it.
However, if they did anything like going to a bar or drinking or anything else that violated their work release requirements and policies, then they lost their work release. They usually lose their job, and not too many employers hold a job for you for two months. You know, they got to fill the position. So anyway, just so all of you know, I agree with work release programs for inmates. And sometimes I put them to work, and we had a big hazmat spill, and I got a bunch of inmates to go out and help clean it up. And you know what they want? They love to get outside and go to work.
And no, nobody escaped. So I got to call Sheriff Kennedy. Don’t let me forget that. All right. I’ll make a note of it. [tr:trw].
