Hi, Lisa Schermer Horn here and you’re on the Grassroots Warrior Network with Lisa Schermer Horn Barry Fisher. Barry Fisher, sorry you tell it’s been a long day. I’ll be Anna and Anna Genone. We have been traveling together for the past was it about week and a half. We’re coming to the end.

I’ve been on a month long travel excursion that started out in Prague and then Ireland and then Spain and then I joined this group that had been in Italy for an amazing trip the south of Italy and then we joined in Port Portugal. We’ve had some really amazing experiences and one of the reasons why I brought them on is because as a mindset coach I’m always fascinated by the point that you can have the same thing happen to you and everyone reacts really differently. Right. And so it all Comes from your own internal world and how you see.

I always say it’s like putting glasses on. Seeing the world from a different perspective. Perspective. And we were in, we were in the Duro Valley, which is the wine country of, of Portugal. And Google Maps said your destination is here. And go around the town. You could go left or right to go around. So Barry said turn what to Dana? I said, Dana said would you like to take a left or right? It looks like they both go the same. Same way. And I said take a right. Yeah. Woah boy. And I was psyched. You’ve ever seen any of those little things, those bits on social media where they show the Chinese bus like squeezed along this little road that’s about that big.

That’s kind of what we had five of us squeezed into this car. Car that was maybe. The road was about 6ft wide and tires were barely hanging on. Now what was interesting is there are two other people in the car. We had the driver, she’s. She was completely confident through the entire thing. He was amazing driver, really confident, cool and collected. Barry, what was your experience as we were. Well, I was in the front seat. I was the navigator. I was on the right hand side as we were going down obviously. And I just was noticing that the road was getting, you know, more and more narrow.

A bit more. Less taken care of then it’s getting steeper. But to me I don’t mind that. And there was a reaction at this. There was all different reactions that were happening in the car and they’re just looking at the beauty and feeling all this adventure was really filling my soul. Yeah. So. And I had a similar experience where I just, I just went into a place of awe of the absolute beauty of what I saw. It’s. It’s probably. They say it’s one of the most beautiful roads and areas in the world. It’s UNESCO site I think where they talk about.

You see the vineyards and, and they’re all stepped into the mountains. It’s. It’s quite spectacular. Two people in the car had a very different reaction. Yes we did. I felt like, you know the movie Thelma Louise? That’s what I felt. Yeah. We’re going over that edit time and we turn a corner. I mean I wasn’t ready for, for that, for that Thelma Louise, I think part of it. And I was so much in fear. I was afraid that the tire would just maybe one inch, just one inch more and the tire would slip and would tumble over.

So I just sat there and, and prayed I Didn’t know word. I didn’t. And I wasn’t able to view like they view the view with an. In awe. Me was more in fear. I was so much in fear. I was, I was. Yeah. Because the roads were so, so narrow. And yeah, I was in fear. I thought, that’s it, that’s it. This is it. And I have more to live. I mean, I still have one more time and wanted to live more. We have more adventures ahead. Yeah, we have more adventures. Yes, exactly. So I just found it fascinating that we could have so many different experiences in one car.

And I wanted to just kind of talk about that because everyone, it’s. It was a metaphor for how everyone sees the world because depending upon your own personal experiences of how you were raised, any trauma you’ve experienced, you’re going to see the world that way. And there was a. Somewhere, someone else who was in the car, who was in the middle, who was holding on to my arm so tight, and she was shaking and, and, and crying. She was terrified. And so I was in that bridge of trying to hold space for the people who were nervous and kind of use my energy to kind of hold that and at the same time enjoy what I was experiencing.

And I think. I think I handled that okay. She was laughing all the time. It went out of my back, almost crying, and I would look back to make sure everybody was okay. That’s it. Yeah. So. But it’s interesting because Barry has a background where, you know, you ride. You’ve ridden motorcycles, you’ve had. Had, you know, quite. And. And ski and horses. So talk about that doesn’t bother me too much. So. And just all I could think about was, first of all, I’m a professional photographer. The beauty was just captivating me in this way of just total bliss.

I was very at peace looking around and then just thinking about how it would be to ride a horse up and down that and a dirt bike or a motorcycle, and the beauty of going slow and just. Yeah, I was. I was kind of lost in it, but yet wanting to make sure my friends were okay in the back, but knowing they were in the back seat with Lisa, I could enjoy it a lot more. And I did make sure they were okay. Yeah, no, it is. And when you’re in a situation like that where there’s so many mixed emotions going on, it’s a very interesting situation to be in because there’s this part of me that wanted to like, oh, my God, this is the most amazing experience of my life.

And two people in Sheer terror in the backseat, thinking they’re going to die. And I’m not the daredevil that Barry is. I mean, I. I’ve been on the back. I’ve been on the back of a motorcycle with her, and I know she’s. She’s actually really good at what she does. Very capable and confident. That’s safety. Yes, safety never takes a holiday. But then we actually ran into some people who were on the boat with us. We did a boat ride through the Douro river, and they were fascinated by that, too. They loved it. Didn’t they have a situation where they were in an accident or almost went off the road? Yeah, yeah.

So his wife was driving. He refused to drive. Yeah. So our driver, Diana, was glad that they heard the story after our incident, not before. But now, you also, Anna, you work with families, correct? I work with divorced parents who are. Who are trying to have shared custody of their child. And I help them to. I bring them together so they could become at least civil with each other and eventually become amicable for the benefit of the child. And it’s to teach them that kids come first. And. Yeah, that’s what I do. However, I mean, we’re all human and we all have fears and we all have all kinds of emotions.

And so I was raised in a family where fear. I was raised in fear. Yeah. So every day I, you know, I’m doing pretty good. But this. This was quite a. A good lesson for me. Quite a good lesson to. To trust. To trust. To trust the person who’s driving. To trust who. You know, just to trust. The. The. The challenge. It was a challenge for me. It was a challenge and to be entrust. And. Yeah, it’s. After that, it was done. I was proud of myself, even though we went through it. But, yeah, it was to trust.

To trust a person who’s guiding us. To trust the person who is bringing us from destination to A to B. Right. Yeah. Can I ask. Yeah. So when we were doing that, we had finished and we went into the other villages, and then we were leaving after we lunch because, you know, now we’re on the boat and everything’s. We’re on low ground, then we had to go back up. And I was wondering what you were feeling with that, knowing that we might go back into something like that, where you have to go back down into something.

And I was wondering. I never asked you what that was like. Well, then I. I changed my mindset, my perspective, what I did. I tried to look more. More into the. Into the nature Instead of looking more into the edge. Yeah. So that helped. It’s interesting. When you ride a motorcycle or you ski or you do any of that with an apex of a turn, you look ahead, you’re not ever going to look at where if you think you’re going to crash, you don’t look there. You look ahead. And that’s what I did. So that helps.

Yeah. Because the cars, the motorcycles go where you’re looking. Yeah, yeah. You. You want to look a little beyond. Because. Because if you go into fear and you start looking, oh, my gosh, I’m going to maybe crash there. That’s not good. So you looked beyond and that’s beyond. To overcome the fear, you know, so by looking, like. See the reason why I was in fear when we were going down, I was too much in the future. I’m like, what’s going to happen with my family was going to happen with this. So I was too much in the future, not in the present.

Interesting. Yeah. So now when we were going back up, I said, no, not going to focus on the present. And I’m going to look ahead. Just look in the. In the. The wilderness, I guess, into the mountain and just focus on that. Look on the trees. I was counting the trees. And so that helped, you know, And I had. I had a trees and I had a mantra going in the back. Should I let it go? I. So when you’re in fear. I like that. Yeah. When you’re in fear, it’s what it gets. It gets you into the present moment.

So this mantra was given to me years ago by. He was 87 at the time. He was my mentor. He was teaching me all of these amazing things. So this was an emotional release method. And the idea is to get to neutral, so you want to get your emotions out so you can still have the wisdom of your experience, but without the fear. So you take the fear out and then you can be the adult in the situation. So I had everyone doing this mantra. Should I let it go? Yes. Could I let it go? Yes.

When? Now. To bring the anxiety and fear. Because the more you fear, you also have to be careful with your thoughts. Create things. Yes, right, absolutely. And so we don’t want to focus and create on that. And. And what was also kind of miraculous that happened. And I was in Portugal 15 years ago, and I was guided to go to a place called Fatima, which is a sacred place where there were apparitions of Mother Mary, or they said Our lady of Fatima. And this was so interesting because I had a really huge impact that happened to me there.

I remember walking into the plaza and all the hair on my arms stood up. And I started to walk over to the area where there was an olive tree over 100. I think it’s 150 years now that this happened. 1917, I think it was 1917, where the apparition appeared. And over an olive tree. And people were stripping the olive tree to bring a piece back. So the olive tree died. But they built a open air prayer kind of cathedral there. And I remember the first time I walked towards that 15 years ago. I got the stabbing pain in my chest, couldn’t breathe, and I just wept.

I have no idea what happened, but I staggered back to the tour bus and made it to the hotel. And we weren’t supposed to go there yesterday at all. We were headed. It was. It was a little bit off of our. Where we were going. But all of a sudden my friend Dana, who was driving, said, you know, I don’t know why, but Fatima’s on the way, we should stop there. And I thought, this is crazy. And I was looking up information on it. And the 13th of it starts May 13th through October 13th were the dates where the apparitions appeared.

It was once a month for six months. And so yesterday was the last of the six months, the 13th of October. And so it was a particularly special day where there were. There was a pilgrimage there. We had very easy parking. We got right in and walked in. And several of us definitely felt. I didn’t have the searing pain, but I thought, this is so interesting that we ended up at that same place. So you had an experience there? Yes, I also felt it the minute that I stepped into the plaza. Yeah, we call it, oh, my God, my body, the goosebumps all over.

Yeah, it was amazing. Yeah, amazing. We. I was not in fear at all. Yeah, you had your healing. Yeah, it was a beautiful experience. Yeah. How about you, Barry? Yeah, I walked in and all of a sudden I looked into. Up into the sky and I saw a cloud that was weak, was sweeping, and the steeple was lit beautifully. And all of a sudden I just felt these goosebumps, same thing come over me and in my arms. And then definitely rushing through my body. And then I just started walking uphill. I couldn’t talk to them. I just.

Sometimes I just walk away because that’s just how I get. It’s like shiny little things, big things. And I went up to the top of the hill and had some quiet time and took some really beautiful photos. I don’t think you’ve seen them yet. No, I haven’t seen. I saw one. I saw one sleeping spirit that was there for me. Wow, that was a beautiful experience. Yeah. After the. After the afternoon that we had, that was amazing. Praying, saying, thank you, God. Forget I knew this. Yeah, it was. It was so fascinating. And we also had had this amazing time before that of the winery.

That was. Just had. Spectacular. Sweet. I know. And. And I have to say, Barry’s been going through a big transition in her life. She’s really. Dana, who’s actually with us. She’s facilitated this trip that. This last part of the trip for me and their trip. Two years ago, she decided, I don’t want to do this anymore. I don’t want the expense of my house anymore. I don’t want to be beholden to all these bills. And she sold everything. And she said, I want to travel around the world. And I was like, that’s so scary. She said, no, that’s so free.

And I thought to myself, you know, I want to travel again too. And she always finds something, be it through house sits, taking care of people’s pets, traveling around the world. And she has enough friends and family that, you know, she’s not really. And I think all of her belongings are in like seven tubs in someone’s garage. She’s really pared down. And she was a world traveler before. Yeah, yeah. Many years ago. So she’s been able to travel, and her work allows her to do it from anywhere as long as she’s got wi Fi. And last year I was invited for a week to go to Puerto Vallarta with some friends.

And then she said, if you. Would you be willing to stay longer if I get some house sits in Mexico? And I said yes, which turned into three months. And it changed me. And, you know, I then ended up on this crazy trip that was supposed to be a trip to Prague for red carpet opening for the Zero Limits movie, which turned into going to the movie Awards, the Marbella Film Festival of all. And all this magic and everything starts to appear. It’s like when you get out of your comfort zone and. And do that calling and you don’t worry about how the money is going to appear because it just does.

Everything just happens. I know. No, I’m not in fear around it. And to travel for a month. And I wasn’t seeing as many clients as I normally do when I was. I’m good. I’m good because I’m always taken care of, and I know that. And you haven’t traveled for a while, have you? I have not. Well, I’ve traveled a lot with my husband. Yesterday, 15 years. And then. Yes, exactly. It stopped for a while and now I’m starting again to travel. Yes, yes, absolutely. Absolutely right. And last year was a trip to Italy with Dana and another group of girls and again this year with you guys.

And. Yeah. It’s amazing. It’s. I love it. I love to explore. To me. Yes. We haven’t met. And that’s how we met. Yeah. On this trip. And it’s amazing how, how you. The connections that we make. And when you’re exploring, when you’re traveling and you meet all kinds of amazing people and, and you learn. You. We learn from each other. We learn from each other. We have fun. We have our highs, we have our lows. But the main thing in this, in the highs and lows is the respect. Respect. We love each other and it’s harmony.

It’s all about harmony and love. Yeah. And to experience, you know, each. Each place touches everyone in a different place. Brings back a memory, creates a healing. We’ve had a lot of healing. Oh, yes, we have. In. In this. And a lot of sharing. A lot of sharing. Yeah. Yeah, a lot of sharing. And. And some. Some little magical miracles. Because we had a situation where two restaurants really go. Restaurants nowhere. So we show up to the first place thinking. Thinking that it’s a restaurant. And we walk in and it’s all men. And they were all so drunk, I don’t think they’d seen five women.

Oh my God. And it was so drunk we were dolled up. So this one being stands up and plots at the biggest belch I’ve ever heard. So funny. And then we realized we’re in the wrong place. So we decided to leave our car there because they were. They told us it’s a five minute walk. Which ended up like a half an hour, 45 minutes dark in the woods to end up to another restaurant. That didn’t make any sense. There was no food. The food. There was no food. Restaurant. But anyway, we’re walking through this path, cutting through, and we’re trying to speak to this woman who speaks no English, trying to get directions to the restaurant.

And finally she walks with us and she took us there. And then we get there, there’s no food at the restaurant. No one’s sitting at the restaurant. It looks like an old deserted rest stop, which I think is what it is. And the language barrier. And the language barrier. And we didn’t have our Car. We had to walk back in the dark along the side of a highway to get back to our car. Someone who we met in town happened to pull up at that moment with his mother and father. Was that. No, his wife and.

No, it was his mom and dad. Mom and dad. So his mom got out of the car and offered to take us back to get the car. Like, what a miracle. That was. Like we were being protected. You could look at it as. Okay, we just walked a half hour. We had no food, nothing to eat in the dark. In the dark in the woods. But we were. We were protected. We had. This woman walked us there, and then we got a ride. We saw our house along the way. Yeah, she. This little. This little beautiful stone house the.

You grew up in. But you have some people who could look at it as, this really sucks. And I kept looking, going, look at the miracle. We were guided. We were completely surrounded. We were taken care of that entire way. It wasn’t an optimal meal, but I loved seeing the miracle and what happened. It wasn’t about the meal. No, it wasn’t about. It was about. Again, trusting. Yeah. About the miracle. It was. It was how our path was highlighted. Yeah. Even though we couldn’t see it, but how our path was highlanded. Yeah. It started. Could have.

We got cheeses there and what, $1.50 bottle of wine. Oh, yeah. One euro, one. One and a half euros. It was actually a really good wine. And we made. We made a fun evening of it. We had cheese and crackers. Chips. Chip. We almost bought the hot dogs in the jars. Oh, my God. Yeah. I messed up for. Yeah, you did. I took a picture of it, though. I’d never seen that before, but came back home and we made our new fist and we. And we laughed and we had fun. And, you know, we learned. We talked also.

What? It just. Yeah. Yeah. When it happened. Yeah. And kind of debriefed on how everyone. Because we had to honor the terror and the fear. Yes. And at the same time, I was trying to hold back that part of me that was like, holy smokes. That was the most incredible ride of my life. At the same time, honoring the fear. So I just found this whole process fascinating. And I don’t know if you have anything else to add about because you’re now in a situation, which is what Dana had done is really getting rid of everything, honing down and paring down to very little, except she bought way too much stuff here.

We figured out how to get it on the home. Well, I didn’t have that big a bag when I started. Yes. I like the old days. I learned to pack for a month in a carry on. Wow. Yeah, wow. It’s not been easy. I have a lot of black. Luckily a lot of the Airbnbs and the hotels have laundry service, but you know, you just layers. And I had two colors, black and green. Perfect. Like a Satan morons. And jewels. And lots of jewels. Here we have. Okay, here we are. Oh, yeah. I just wanted to say hi.

Oh, well, you can get behind us. And who’s on the campus is. We are recording right now. Hello. Yes. Hi, Zack. My first time in Europe with these three lovely women, all caring and loving women. And we have learned a lot about each other these past two weeks and week. And just want to thank you very much. Really hasn’t been easy sometimes. Well, feeling under the weather, but I’m feeling better. Oh, good. And you know what? You. This is your first time traveling out of the country. Yeah. You are outside of your comfort zone. You were one of the people who didn’t have a particularly good experience on.

On the drive down. Oh, yes. Yeah. I see you holding me tight. Holding me tight. And. Yeah. It’s on the side. No, it’s the opposite. It’s reversed. I know. You said the two strengths. Yeah, well, I don’t know about that. I’m just holding on. That’s you. I just wanted to come. No, I appreciate that. I was glad you could come down for this because this was a big deal for you, you know, traveling, going into the history. It’s not like we have two Canadians here and two Americans over here. Yes. And so even though we speak this, you know the same language pretty much.

It’s still. It’s another country. Us. Different culture and new experiences. New experiences all together. We were all throwing into. Yeah. New food. Yeah. And how was it for you to travel like this for the first time? And you were in Italy. All over Italy. And then what has it taught you? That’s a great question. It’s taught me a lot of things about myself. Yeah. I really learned about how I was. First of all, how we can able. I’m able to adapt to work in. In an environment where it’s out of my comfort zone. Yeah. I would respond to emails and cafes in the car, and it was great.

I mean, I love that. I love that freedom because that’s what I felt was that freedom of being able to, you know, really take care of my work and be traveling with women who are worldly. And I learned from you Guys, I learned a lot from you teaching me all the little tricks of the trade. You know, do this, do that, all that. So I, you know, I appreciate all your patience. I think I learned how to be more patient. I’ll try to be more patient with myself because I believe. Tried my best. It’s beautiful. Wow.

Well, it is a lot. And a lot of walking, a lot of new experiences. And I’m thrilled. I’m thrilled to have you here. And this has been a blast. And I don’t know if anyone has anything else we haven’t. We haven’t covered about mindset or anything that particularly impacted you on this trip. Any thoughts? I have a little something. Yeah. Just that Dana has been doing such a wonderful job taking us to places. I mean, so like, three and four places a day. Yeah. Driving a lot of. There’s a lot of effort that she’s put into this trip and.

And thank her for that and meeting all these wonderful women. And that Lisa was saying how Dan has given up a lot of her things. And I’m also in that process right now. I have to go back to my home and my studio as an artist and sort of button up a few things because I have a pretty big business going there, and I still do, but I’m bringing everything down and smaller because of the way that I want to live my life now, which is more of a simple life. I’ve had a very big life.

I will continue to have a big life, but on a different level, and I’m really looking forward to that. And Lisa and Dana have been a big inspiration for that to get me back on the road again, as I didn’t know if traveling was still in my world as it was when I was younger. Well, we want to preface this. She traveled around the world with the world ski with the World cup ski team. She’s the professional photographer and was taking photographs on the ski mountain skiing backwards with those giant lenses. She’s badass. So she had many years of traveling the world and took a break tired.

So. Yeah. Move 45 times. Yeah. Moved a lot. Yeah, it was a lot to just settle down for a while. So Lisa and Dana and these amazing women right here got me back on the road again. And I. I can’t thank you enough. Yeah, thank you, Lisa. Well, you know, I always say I thank Dana’s appendix because she. Her. Now, it’s actually a tragic story, but she was in Italy last year and her appendix burst, and she was actually supposed to continue on to Portugal and had to cut Her. Her trip short. And after recovering back home, after having surgery in Italy, when she found out that I was going to Mexico, that’s how we ended up extending the trip to three months and gave me back that travel bug.

And you don’t need a lot of money to travel. There are ways that you can do it for less money. It’s. It’s the buying. It’s the buying. The extras. The extras that get you. But, you know, you can do it on a budget. Just trust and. And trust. Exactly. Yeah. So. So I’d like to add something. Yeah. On these trips, I’ve learned. And this is. Which is very good, that we could share it with other people, that we do have the power within. We have the power within to go and get that courage or to go and be resilient or to have that determination that, yes, I can do it.

That’s why I’m here. That’s the what I need to know. That’s what I need to learn. That’s what I want to do. And. And it’s beautiful because we. We just keep evolving and evolving to the next step. To the next step. And I’ve noticed that, you know, no matter. No matter how old you are, you know, it’s very important to just keep evolving and keep going to the next step. To the next step and trying new things, even like trying new food. You guys had things before. I tasted. I tasted. I tried. Yes, I did. If I can just say something.

Yeah. Just. I mean, aside from the food and the traveling and knowing that you can work and all that, that. But the bonding between women. Yeah, that’s what I said earlier. Yes. No, go ahead. Yeah, the bonding. Respect. Yeah, respect. Yeah. I mean, it’s not perfect. We’re all not perfect. We’re all human beings, and we all have feelings and we all have our ups and downs. Like I said, it’s all about love. But for two weeks, we survived all of each other in a very positive way. I didn’t survive it. I mean, we really. We nailed it.

Yeah, I think so. Yeah, we did. It’s hard to believe that the time is coming to an end. We have one more full day before we’re. We’re off headed home. But, yeah, I. I just thought I. I wanted to share this experience because I think that travel changes you. It teaches you so much, even meeting people. Now, this was circle because we were in for Porto, and we’re walking across this bridge and meet this Irish couple and have a conversation with them. Okay, now, Porto is what. How many Hours from here. Yeah, two and a half.

Two and a half, three hour drive. Tonight we stopped at a restaurant and next to us in Lisbon. In Lisbon, three hours away is the couple from the bridge. Yeah. You just can’t make this up. No, no. And so, and, and they’re going to the same place we’re going to tomorrow. So miracles do happen. Expect miracles. And that’s one of the themes that I. I have really learned and live through the movie Zero Limits that I’m in. If you get a chance, please, it’s on. Watch it. It’s on Amazon, Amazon prime and Apple tv. Zero Limits.

The Zero Limits movie dot com. It really helps people to get themselves into the state of forgiveness. The Ho’ oponopono prayer, which is an ancient Hawaiian prayer that teaches forgiveness. It changed my life, literally changed my life when I was able to finally free, pray, free myself up by forgiving people and situations that I swore I would never forget. And then I realized that the only person that I was hurting is me. And so when I let it go, it didn’t give the other people let them off the hook. It was like, I don’t have to carry it anymore.

And the movie really goes into a lot of different people who have experienced that and are living incredible lives. If you want to have the freedom and learn how to expect miracles in your life, you need to look for them. You weren’t here before, but we told the story of how we were guided to the restaurant the other night. Those two crazy places. The woman who walked us there so we got there safe and someone else got us back to the car so we didn’t have to walk along the dark highway. Look for the little things because the miracles are in the little things.

Be receptive. Be receptive. They’re always there. They’re all. They’re all there. Yeah. And. And also Dana Weber, who choose exhausted. So she’s not here in. In this podcast today right now, but she’s an amazing web designer. But not only that, she a friend and she’s very loyal and does so much over the top. Such a beautiful job on my website. And mine too. Yeah. Yeah, mine as well. Beautiful colors, beautiful branding, beautiful insight to different businesses. Yeah. I mean to par coaching and parenting and photography and healing. She asks the right question. She is the right question.

So I’ll have her information below. If you are looking for a web designer, give her a little plug because she’s really amazing. Anyway, thank you all for being here. I appreciate it. I know this is a little different than what I normally do, but I just thought it would be fun, a little different and really help people who are kind of on the edge of what they want to do and kind of push yourself out of your comfort zone. I always say the things that I’m afraid the most are the things that I need to do.

Exactly. And so push yourself out of your comfort zone and get yourself into a new experience. You’ll find that it’ll change your life. Thank you so much for being here, and thank you all. Thank you so much. It.
