Summary
➡ Men’s clothing and accessories tend to cost more than women’s. It’s important to protect yourself from theft by using an RFID scanner blocker. Waitstaff should be honest and customers should check their bills for discrepancies, standing up for themselves if they find any. Remember, it’s not just the government and Congress that can rip us off, it can happen in everyday life too.

They figure you’re not going to bother, but it’s intentional. And it’s becoming industry-wide, and some of it is built into the infrastructure of tipping. And we’re going to tell you all about it right here on The Common Sense Show and how to avoid these scams that are stealing millions of dollars from innocent people like you when you dine out. I’m Dave Hodges. This is The Common Sense Show. We are the show that’s freeing America one enslaved mind at a time. Thank you so much for joining us. Really good to be with you. We’re brought to you by Noble Gold.
Well, a lot of people are waiting. Should I buy gold? Should I buy some silver? Okay, and while you’re waiting, you need to realize gold doesn’t wait for you. Basically, gold moves on fear, instability, apprehension, anxiety, and we’re filled with that right now. Gold is going to explode. You know, a lot of people, and I’m saying this apart from the commercial, tell me, Dave, gold’s going to go to $20,000 an ounce. Whoa! Well, before when I said gold was going to go to $4,000 an ounce, people laughed at me. They called me a dumb blank on the comment section.
Well, closed Friday at almost $4,500. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to protect yourself. And the biggest reason, Dodd-Frank, they can take your retirement. They can take your savings. It’s called bail-in. And the Dodd-Frank Law 2010 allows you to do it. You’re an unsecured creditor. You’re in second place. And this was a reaction to any kind of panic withdrawals that might take place as a result of another 2008 money scam. So big problem. So what do you do? Okay, here’s what you do. You want a free investment kit? That’s the way to ease into it. They never pressure you anyway.
Even when you talk to them, they just answer your questions. You have to literally close your own deal, but you can go to DaveHodgesGold.com. That’s DaveHodgesGold.com. Or you can call them directly and tell them I told you to call. Call 877-646-5347877. And I got to tell you, this next story makes me appreciate the nine-year relationship I’ve had as a customer with Nova Gold. Ten years as a marketer, these people are as honest as a day as long. It makes me appreciate it because this is scummy. This is disgusting. And I need to make you aware of it because you need to confront it when it happens.
Okay, here we go. Tip scams. First of all, you know when you get the bill and they have a suggested tip, 15%, 20%, 25%? First of all, the math is wrong. Did you know that? I’ve started surveying these and I’ve pointed this out. The math is wrong and it’s purposefully deceptive. Now, a lot of times they’ll say, well, we just do it on the total amount. Well, that’s BS. Okay, you don’t tip on tax. So let’s say your meal was $30, okay? $30. And then your tax comes to, let’s say, another $4. Your tax doesn’t go on, excuse me, your tip does not go on $34.
It goes on $30. So here’s a quick way to figure this because a lot of times they’re purposely scamming the math, too. They’re cheating on the math. So here’s what you do. You take the $30 times 10. That’s a $3 tip. Double that. That’s $6. That’s 20% if that’s what you want to tip. You don’t tip on tax. Now, that’s one scam right there and this is institutionalized and built into these BS devices. And oftentimes there are excuses. Well, we’re just figuring to tip on the entire bill. Well, that’s not customary and it’s dishonest. And then sometimes they even lie on the estimates.
They’re thinking you’re tired. You’ve had a couple of drinks. You’re not going to figure the math. You need to figure the math. They need to be called out on it. When a restaurant does it, you need to tell everybody. You need to walk out and say, I’m not coming back. And pretty soon they’ll stop doing this crap. Okay, let’s continue on. By the way, you know where this is really prevalent? And I got to go to Vegas to shoot a commercial. I’m telling you when and for obvious reasons. But I’ve been told, hey, this is the common practice in Vegas.
The common practice that you’re going to get ripped off more than you are not when you’re in Vegas. Are you surprised? Who founded Vegas? Families like the Rothstein family, criminal crime family from New York. Care to guess who they’re related to? Okay, well, that’s another topic for another time. If you know what I’m talking about, you’re already laughing. All right. Now, let’s take a look at some other things here with regard to how they rip you off. As I just mentioned, you don’t tip on the, you tip on the subtotal, not the total that includes taxes.
Okay. Now, here’s the other thing. They used to do this with you just had parties of six or more or 10 or more, and they would say gratuity included in the service. Okay, well, you’re kind of at their mercy at what they want to charge you. But they’re telling you it’s their decision. I would opt not to do that. But now they’re doing something really scummy. Is they’re applying this practice to two and three people dining, and they have little funny print, fine print that you need a magnifying glass tip is already included. And then you don’t realize that the tip is already included and you tack another 20% on and now you’ve paid 40% tip on that meal.
This is also common. You say it’s scummy. It is scummy. If I’d have known this was this common, I wouldn’t have supported President Trump’s no tax on tips. Yeah, you see, Dave, I’m an honest. Okay, I know some. We like to sometimes go to zips over in Peoria, Peoria Glendale area on 59th Avenue. We got a great waitress there. We love her. She’d never do this to us. But a lot of people are people they are people are desperate now because the economy is so bad. All right, let’s let’s continue on here. Make sure you keep your receipt.
Okay, the auto gratuity we’ve covered and there’s something now called tapping. Here’s what I mean by by tapping. If you see the waitress is she taps it. She’s already put in the automatic tip. And a lot of people don’t notice. Look at your bill. If before you have tipped. Can you see a tip line with an amount there? You call her back say I didn’t authorize this. You take this off right now. And sometimes the louder the better. Because the last thing they want to do, well, we’ll call the police if you don’t calm down. Call the police will be happy to show him your fraud.
Okay, that’s one other thing too that you really need to be aware of. The other thing I’m going to tell you too is keep your receipts. Because here’s what they’ve also been known to do. The bill comes to $41. Okay, and so sometimes they change the one to the four if you’ve left your customer receipt and also write down the amount that you’ve tipped because if you do not, it’s your word versus their word. So you need to make sure you keep your receipt and put in the amount and clearly write the tip. Clearly. I mean, this is getting so dishonest right now.
You almost feel like having the waitress signer initials to the tip amount. This is how common this is. Some of you’re going you’re hearing this for the first time. I understand you’re a little shocked. Oh, these people wouldn’t do it to me. Well, if you’re going to the same restaurant all the time, you never relationship with the waitress or the waiter. I can understand you thinking that like the the gala zips that we like. We’d like her a lot. But I will tell you this. This is more common than it’s not. Now, there’s one more thing that you need to worry about.
And this is just something general. There are now devices if they come within an inch or two of your wallet or purse, they’re lifting your credit card. You start getting charges in different states that you’ve never been to. So what you got to do is get an RFID wallet or purse. And they’re not that much. I was looking at this and I told my wife, I said we need to get this. They’re about fifteen dollars, sixteen dollars on Amazon. And they’re about nine or ten dollars for the women. The males are a little more expensive than the women’s.
Kind of odd, right? An article of clothing, accessory to clothing is more expensive for men than for women. But that’s the case. You’re really better off getting that. And you should make sure you have that RFID scanner blocker because it it can save you from happening. Now, to you people who are waiters and waitresses, remember, I supported your no tax on tips and I was vociferous about it. Those of you are honest, God bless you. To those of you aren’t, I’m hoping this will go viral. And now waiters and waitresses will come under reasonable scrutiny. And that when you find a discrepancy, you call for the manager and you make it a big deal.
You stand up out of your seat. You tell the manager, I didn’t authorize this and you better darn well change it. Stand up for yourself, people, because the government and Congress, they’re not the only ones who are ripping us off. It’s happening in daily life. I’m Dave Hodges. This is The Common Sense Show.
