Summary

➡ Paul, the voiceover for a ministry called Your Daily Bread, discusses the importance of men loving and respecting their wives in a marriage. He emphasizes that love requires sacrifice and understanding, and men should strive to help their wives grow spiritually. Using the analogy of a clogged sink, he explains that issues may arise in a marriage, but it’s the man’s duty to use love to resolve these problems. He concludes by stating that men should treat their wives as partners and make them feel special, as this is key to a satisfying and successful marriage.
➡ Love in a relationship is measured by sacrifice, not enjoyment. Men should love their wives unconditionally, even in difficult times. The role of a man is to create a harmonious and joyful home environment, and to be present and engaged with his wife. A wife is not a replacement for a man’s role, but a partner to help create this environment.

Hello, my name is Paul, and I am the voiceover for a ministry provided to you by Jim Pugh at God is Government called Your Daily Bread, taken from Christ’s teaching of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6, verse 11. This is a daily devotion ministry focused not only on uplifting Scripture, but Scripture that will grow your spiritual connection with Christ. We hope that you receive these devotions to uplift you, encourage you, but most importantly, advance your knowledge base of the Holy Scriptures. Today’s focus discussion will be on the husband’s required treatment of their wives.

Men, if there is no sacrifice for your wife, then there is no love you are bringing into the relationship. So the question for all of us men, do we really love our wives? If you believe you do really love your wife, you might want to ask her what price you are paying for that love. In other words, are you sacrificing enough? Men, until we die, we have not paid the ultimate sacrifice. We are to love our wives, like Christ loved the church until we die. Men, we need to ask ourselves whether or not we are going to love in both sickness and in health, richer or poorer, until death do us part.

I bet that the majority of men never really knew the meaning and intent of those words we recited giving our vows to one another. Men, we need to fight for our marriage. We need to tell our wives that no matter how she treats us, we are not leaving. This is what Christ told us, but his example is what to do. We need to realise, just as we treat Jesus and he doesn’t go anywhere, so shall we men with our wives. There are many things men and women learn about each other. All the complaining, bathroom products, hair dryers, curlers, make up everywhere, being late, and oh here’s one, sharing the bathroom at times when privacy is wanted, especially when you only have one.

My lord, the amount of changing a guy must go through when married. Oh here is one I learned very early days after being married the first time. She cannot cook. We stayed overnight with some friends down the hall from their bedroom, and oh my, you could hear the freight train coming with all the snoring. Almost made me wake my wife up and leave in the middle of the night. Oh here’s another one. We recently got a dog, and my wife requires it to sleep on the floor in our bedroom on her doggy bed, that’s a whole other subject, but the dog snores.

She snores louder than my wife, but when they get going together I swear it is like it’s an orchestra contest. They compete. So men, when we get married, we learn a whole lot of things and experience things we never did. So men, if we love her, we have to be her sanctifier. What does sanctification mean? It means to set apart for special use. This means we are to take her from where she is, to where she needs to go. This is described in scriptures as spiritual growth. When she shows you her problems, we become Mr.

Handyman Fixer. This is what it means to love her. What many men want to do is marry at the end of the relationship instead of the beginning of the relationship. It is our job, as men, to take the relationship where it is at the beginning of the relationship and move it along to where it needs to be, because we are the sanctifier. I have had this described as being little Jesus in the home. Scriptures tell men that what Jesus is to the Church we are to be, to our wives. I took a seminar with Tony Evans and he explained how this sanctification process works.

He made an analogy using a kitchen sink. In a sink build-up happens over time until things get clogged up and backup occurs. When the backup occurs, you call a professional to fix the problem. A plumber comes and takes a snake and begins to remove the backup. First it starts with a small hole and a small amount of water begins to move through the hole and down the drain. As the snake rotates round and round, the hole gets bigger and bigger. As the size of the gets bigger, more water begins to flow and soon the clog is removed and water runs freely down the drain.

Men, women, bring a lot of things into a marriage that over time will back up and clog the relationship. It is our job to bring to the table love to combat that. This means that our is like the snake used for the sink. We use our love to borrow a small hole in the clog and over time, more love to the clog will dislodge the clog, allowing love to flow freely between the man and the woman. Ephesians 5, 26, KJV. That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.

We are to love our wives, cleansing her with the washing of the water of the word. Men typically, when they see this junk coming up, typically run away. But God tells us we are to stay and aid our wife in her time of need. Our wives could have been abused as a child, had a very domineering mother, lived in foster homes growing up, or even had some sort of disability. Regardless of the underlying issue, our job, as husbands, is to love our wives through the issue and work with her to move her through the trials into the light of God’s word.

This is called sanctification. We then become her strength when she needs strength. We then are her encouragement when she needs encouragement. We then become her joy when she needs joy. We then are her peace when she needs peace. We do this because no matter how old she gets through us, men, she remains eternally young. Men, we are to be the stone wall around her. We are to be her power base. We are to be her strength. We are to be the steady, consistent standard she looks to in times of unrest. We are to be the rock that maintains our cool even when she has lost her mind.

We are not to yell back at her when she yells. Men, we are to be the leader. We say we are the powerful ones. Then we need to act like these without fear of any reprisal or losing our heads in the process. We need to be smart. So men, we are to be her saviour, her sanctifier, and then her satisfier. Ephesians 5 verse 28, KJV, so ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. What we need in today’s society is men who understand how to satisfy a woman.

Most men think this is all about sex. Sex plays an important role in the relationship process, but there is much more to satisfying a woman. Women, when a man says he has many females, he dates. This should tell you he has not yet reached manhood, because any man can bounce around from one to another to many. It is not until men can hold steady for fifteen, twenty, or even fifty years, and the wife still says I am still satisfied that you know the meaning of all this. The idea here is men love your wife as your own body is like Christ giving himself to the church.

We are to treat our wives like they are our queen. She is high on a pedestal in our minds and hearts. We have to treat her as though she has significance because she has. We are to treat her as a partner in all discussions and decisions, because that is what God tells us to do. Our treatment of her is to appreciate her making her feel special. Men, do your wives feel special? Many of us men do for other women what we do not do for our wives. We used to do those things for our wives before she was our wife, and even in the first years after marriage, we used to open the car door for our wives.

We used to open any door entrance and allow our wives to proceed through the door ahead of us. When Shivri dies, so does the marriage. She needs to feel special because she is special. There are too many dissatisfied wives in our society today because there are too many unsatisfied husbands. Men, if we are not satisfying her and providing her joy, then we need to look at ourselves and determine why we are not making the mark. Most men today think they are the providers and the woman’s place is in the home. We think that we do our work and they should do their work at home and the two should not meet.

What a farce. Men, what we fail to realise is the home is our job. In fact, for everything else to work as supposed to in society, the home is our only job, and the work we do supports the home. The word love has almost become unchristian. When the scriptures talk about love, it talks about the sacrifice we have to make for the betterment of someone else. We can only measure love by the sacrifice we make, not by our enjoyment. Most couples today live like cats and dogs, and it starts with the man. It has nothing to do with what she may do in return in loving us.

Men, we are not talking about the puppy love or lust we have early on in any relationship. If she hates you, then you still love her. If she mistreats you, then you still love her. And even if you reject me, I am still going to love you and try to please you. Men, we are her satisfier, and that doesn’t allow for when and where it is all the time. Man’s first responsibility is to love his wife. Man’s second responsibility is to live with his wife. 1 Peter 3 verse 7 KJV. Likewise ye husbands dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered.

The word dwell means to be in harmony or closely aligned one to another. It means to have intimate dwelling with husband and wife at home. The role of the wife is to help the job of her husband, which is the home. She is not to replace the man’s role in the home, she is to be his helper. Men, our role in the home is to set the environment of intimacy. This means we are to work together with our wives to create an environment in the home which is in harmony. Men, it is our job to make our home a joyful place to be at, and not one that is in strife.

To do this means we have to be there and be present. Your wife didn’t marry a paycheck, a car or a bankroll, she married you. She does not expect but deserves you to be home. Most women married their husbands when they were young, probably just out of college and had no money, and when no one knew your name, and that is the same man she wants to be married to today. Whenever our outside influences have more to do for her, replacing our presence with her, then we are not dwelling at home. Men, when we work more on the outside than on the inside of our home, we have failed.

When we have worked so hard during the day that we go home and throw in the towel because we are too tired to even have a conversation, then we are not dwelling with our wife. This means that in everything we should want to dwell with our wives more than married to things. These are tough calls, but when we go home, we go home to our life full-time job. Men, our wives were not given to us as slaves, she was given to us to be our partner. Thank you for joining us in this exploration of husbands required treatment of their wives.
