Summary

➡ On February 5th, 2025, Ron Parje discussed the strategic importance of Greenland to the United States. He explained that Greenland, the world’s largest island, holds significant potential for national security, economic opportunities, and resource extraction. The U.S. has shown interest in acquiring Greenland due to its strategic location, abundant natural resources, and geopolitical significance. The historical context, including Denmark’s claim over Greenland in the 18th century, the U.S.’s defense of Greenland during World War II, and the establishment of U.S. military bases there, were also discussed.
➡ The United States is considering strengthening its economic ties with Greenland to reduce its reliance on Denmark and China. This could involve investing in mining, infrastructure, and workforce development in Greenland, particularly focusing on the extraction of rare earth elements and hydrocarbons. The U.S. also aims to counter Russian and Chinese influence in the Arctic region. This partnership could benefit both countries, with Greenland gaining economic diversification and job creation, and the U.S. strengthening its position in the Arctic.
➡ The text discusses various topics including the potential benefits of owning Greenland due to its mineral resources, the existence of underground tunnels and facilities, geopolitical issues, and the possibility of China being perceived as an enemy. It also mentions Trump’s interest in purchasing Greenland for US national security, which was rejected by Denmark and Greenland. The text ends with a discussion on human trafficking and the importance of rare earth elements.

Good evening, everybody. Ron Parje and Untold History. And it is Wednesday, February 5th of 2025. Time is flying by. Well, I’m gonna do something a little bit different tonight, something that I haven’t, that I haven’t really done done. Just kind of trying to expand my horizons here a little bit. So if I, if I, if I butcher this a little bit, give me, cut me a little bit of slack. But I, you know, I, I’ve been very intrigued by the whole thing with Greenland and what the, what, what the big deal is about England. Greenland, rather.

And so I decided to do a little bit of a deep dive. I, I actually got several of the artificial intelligence tools to use and, and just to kind of help me with doing things behind the scenes to make it a little bit easier to kind of improve the quality of the content on the channel. And anyway, so tonight is going to be the really kind of like the first experiment of that. So I, I, I’m, I’m kind of eager to get into this, but so, so let’s jump in and see how this goes. All right, so Greenland is a strategic asset for the United States.

Greenland, I did not know this, but Greenland is the world’s largest island. Actually, I thought that was Australia, but, but I guess that would be considered a continent, not an island. So Greenland, the world’s largest island, is a strategically vital region for the United States. The island holds enormous potential in terms of national security, economic opportunity, and resource extraction. We’re going to delve into the historical, the political and the economic factors that make Greenland crucial to the United States and highlight President Trump’s interest in acquiring Greenland, which stems from its strategic location, abundant natural resources, and geopolitical significance.

In summary, Trump’s proposal to purchase Greenland is driven by the desire to strengthen the United States geopolitical standing in the Arctic. So, all right, so here is some of the historical context. Now, I actually found some stuff that went way back, but I’m limiting it to just going back to the 1800s. So Denmark, Norway. Denmark. Slash Norway. They, they claimed sovereignty over Greenland in the early 18th century. And so during World War II and the Cold War, from 40 to 45. During World War II, when the Nazis occupied Denmark in 1940, Greenland was cut off from Denmark.

The United States, with Dana’s permission, took over Greenland’s defensive responsibilities to prevent German invasion. And the United States established military bases, including Blue West 1 and Blue West 8 for weather monitoring and defense. During the Cold War, it had strategic importance. In 1946, the US offered to buy Greenland from Denmark for $100 million. But Denmark refused. Greenland became a key Cold war military location hosting Thule air base in 1951 which was a major United States military base. So it’s still in operation supporting NORAD and the early warning radar systems is part of the ballistic missile early warning system against the Soviet threat.

And then the Cold war actually strengthened U. S. Greenland security cooperation. But it also led to Greenlandic resistance to foreign military influence. In 1953-present, Greenland became an integral part of Denmark. Denmark ended its colonial status and made Greenland an official part of the Danish kingdom. Major Danish infrastructure investments and social reforms followed. But Danish cultural policies led to tensions with Greenland’s Inuit population. In 1979, home rule was established. Greenland was granted home rule allowing more local governance over education, health and natural resources. And in 2009 the autonomy was expanded. Greenland received greater self rule with control over police, courts and natural resources.

Danish control remains over foreign policy, defense and currency. But Greenlanders officially recognized as. As a distinct people under, under international law. So that’s kind of like the, the, the background of Denmark here or of Greenland rather. All right, so this is where we start to get into enhancing, you know, kind of why the United States wants it enhancing the United States national security and military interests. This is one element of it. The Cold war and modern Arctic defense. Greenland played a major role in U.S. cold War deterrence strategies, acting as an early warning radar station against Soviet nuclear attacks.

We’ve talked about that. Today the United States is reinvesting in Arctic military capabilities to counter growing threats from Russia and China, Greenland and NATO. Greenland is part of NATO’s defense structure, though it’s associated with debt or through its association with Denmark. And the United States collaborates with Denmark and Canada to maintain security in the Arctic. It does. It’s obviously it’s a very strategic location. And its strategic location allows for the establishment of military bases that could enhance surveillance and defense capabilities. Presently, Thule Air Base, located in Greenland’s north. Excuse me. Located in northern Greenland, is the northernmost United States military base.

The key missions include detecting of intercontinental ballistic missiles, ballistic missile defense which supports NORAD and NATO defense operations and satellite and space surveillance to help track objects in space and potential and potential threats to US Satellites. And then why is Greenland strategically important? So this right here is the Northwest Passage and this is the Northeast Passage. So obviously you see where Greenland is, here’s the North Pole and the, you see the coming up through the Bering Strait and through the northern coast of Alaska and up and through The Canadian Islands and whatnot, and around through Greenland here on this side and then on the other side, which is the Northeast Passage.

It’s really, it’s kind of going along. Russia doesn’t necessarily pay as crucial of a role, but it is there. And this map right here is, you can see where the map or this right here is. It’s actually, I don’t know how to pronounce it, Pitufik Space Base, which was formerly known as Thule Air Base. And on the map here, it would be right, kind of right in here. So. And this just kind of shows a lot of the areas on Greenland right now that, that are where they have like natural, the rights to the, to mine, you know, the specific natural resources.

So obviously Greenland has a strategic location in the Arctic, providing position for the United States to monitor and defend against threats. It offers valuable opportunities for the United States to establish and expand military bases, enhancing its presence in the Arctic and the immense natural resources. All right, and there’s probably going to be some redundancy in here. I, you know, this, this was kind of something that I decided to do earlier today and I, I think I, I feel like I bit off a little bit more than I could chew. But in the future I’m gonna probably do this with a little bit more care so that I don’t have as much redundancy.

But I, I think you guys will kind of get the, get the gist here. So. Strengthening the United States influence in the region, the geopolitical and strategic advantages. Greenland is key to Arctic dominance. And with the Arctic ice melting, new shipping lanes and resource opportunities are opening. Russia and China are also expanding their Arctic influence. And so the United States control would ensure that a key Arctic gateway is under American oversight, obviously to protect it from a scientific and environmental leadership perspective. The Arctic climate research and space expansion. The United States could expand Arctic climate monitoring stations, boost NASA’s presence in Greenland for satellite tracking and deep space, deep space research.

And the United States could also develop Greenland as a launch site for Arctic space missions. That’s a whole nother topic. You know, I, not to be conspiratorial, but, you know, I, I’m not really one that believes that the rockets are the primary mechanism to get satellites into space. I do believe that we have, you know, rather large anti gravitic technology that’s used to, to, to get things out there, but I could be wrong. That’s just, that’s, that’s really more of a belief than, than any. I, I can’t prove that so but in any event, on to the next one.

So this is the access to the Arctic region to the Northwest and Northeast Passage. So the Northwest Passage runs through Canada’s Arctic Archipelago, connecting the Atlantic Ocean from Baffin Bay, Greenland to the Pacific Ocean. And Greenland provides a strategic entry and exit point for ships using this route. It’s one of the key choke points, is near Greenland. Baffin Bay between Greenland and Canada is a crucial maritime gateway. And Lancaster Sound is the key entrance for ships navigating through the Northwest Passage. And I’ll just go back here for a second and show you. That is basically what they’re talking about is this area right in here, right here and right here.

So and then the Northeast Passage runs along Russia’s Arctic coast, connecting the Atlantic via the Barents Strait or the Barents Sea rather to the Pacific and the Bering Strait. Greenland’s eastern waters are the Greenland Sea and Denmark Strait serve as a major transit point for ships moving between the Northeast Passage and the North Atlantic. So and obviously another key passage near Greenland. So the Denmark Strait between Greenland and Iceland is vital for ships transitioning between the Northeast Passage and the European markets. And again, I’ll go show you that. That’s basically this, these areas right in here.

So even though this area, the Northeast Passage goes along Russia, these are still international waters. And Greenland and Iceland play key roles in that. In terms of the economic incentives here, the United States can leverage various economic incentives to strengthen ties with Greenland, boost its economy and reduce its reliance on Denmark and China. These incentives would help Greenland develop its natural resources, infrastructure and workforce while aligning with the United States strategic interests. Number one here is investment in critical mineral and rare earth mining. Direct US investment in mining operations, including partnerships with American mining companies finding or excuse me, funding for Greenland based processing facilities to ensure the rare earth elements.

That’s what RE is. Rare earth elements refining takes place outside of China. Research and development grants to improve the environmental friendly mining techniques and securely guaranteeing and regulatory support to ensure a stable long term investment to the infrastructure and energy development funding for Arctic ports, airports and roads to facilitate mining, trade and tourism. Investment in renewable energy projects like hydropower, wind, geothermal to reduce Greenland’s dependence on imported fossil fuels. And subsidies for US companies to develop communications including high speed Internet for remote Greenlandic communities. And three, expanding U.S. greenland trade relations which would so obviously lower tariffs and trade preferences for Greenlandic seafood, making exports more competitive in the United states market.

Greenland U.S. free Trade Agreement or FTA or a special trade arrangement under existing U.S. trade programs and U.S. grants for Greenlandic businesses to expand exports beyond Denmark and Europe. This is where it gets really really interesting because the talking about the potential for resource extraction the on the oil and gas Greenland has a large offshore hydrocarbon hydrocarbon deposits the estimated reserves over 50 billion barrels of oil and 100 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. And that’s according to the United States Geological Survey. Greenland and the United States both possess significant untapped oil and natural gas resources, though their estimated quantities and current development status differ markedly.

Undiscovered resources the USGS has assessed that East Greenland Rift Basins province may contain approximately 31.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent encompassing oil and natural gas and natural gas liquids. The Exploration and development despite these substantial estimates, Greenland has not yet developed commercial oil or gas production. And in fact in 2021 Greenland’s government decided to suspend oil exploration citing environmental concerns. In terms of the United States, the USGS estimates that the areas of the northern Arctic Circle, including parts of Alaska hold about 90 billion barrels of undiscovered technically recoverable oil and one that one 1.67 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered and technically recoverable natural gas.

That’s a lot. That is an enormous amount. This represents approximately 13% of the world’s undiscovered oil and 30% of the undiscovered natural gas. So the United States is loaded with this and if we added Greenland to that that would only increase what what our potential stockpiles could be that are still in the in the ground in terms of exploration and development United States they have a well established they well we have well established oil and gas industry with ongoing export exploration and production activities particularly in Alaska’s northern slope and offshore areas. Technological advancements and existing infrastructure facilitates the development of these resources.

From a political and global power dynamics perspective US and Greenland relations have historically been. US has historically been tied to Greenland specific or excuse excuse me. The United States has historically tried to buy Greenland twice once in 1946 and again in 2019. Strengthen diplomatic and economic ties in recent years to counter Chinese influence. In 2020 the United States reopened a consulate in Nuke. I believe that’s how you pronounce it which is Greenland’s capital. To expand relationship Denmark’s role and US Strategy Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark which controls its foreign policy and defense. The US Maintains strong ties with Denmark to ensure continued access to Greenland.

If Greenland moves towards independence, the United States may see closer defense agreements to maintain its strategic presence. But countering Russian and Chinese influence, Russia is expanding its Arctic military presence, including new bases, nuclear weapons and icebreaker fleets. China is investing in Arctic infrastructure as well and has declared itself a near Arctic state, raising concerns about Chinese control over Greenland’s resources. I think this is one of the big reasons why Trump once wants that, because he wants to prevent China from getting it. And you’ll understand why here in a minute. The United States aims to secure Greenland to prevent foreign influence in this strategic region.

Wait a second. To. Duh. Oh, I missed. I missed this. Forgive me, guys. This was the, this was the one that I. I didn’t go down far enough. This is the one that was really, really kind of eye opening. The rare earth elements. All right. Greenland is known to have significant deposits of rare earth elements, particularly in southern Greenland, where I’m not even going to try to pronounce that whatever deposit is one of the richest in the world. Greenland’s rare earth elements reserves are substantial, with estimates suggesting that the island could possess up to 42 million metric tons of rare earth oxides.

And if fully realized, this would position Greenland as having the second largest rare earth element reserves globally, following China. So that is a very, very, very big deal. It’s. Greenland is. Is loaded with. With rare earth elements, and these elements are critical for electronics, renewable energy and defense industries. The estimate estimated quantities as of. I don’t remember when this was, but I mean, it’s recent. It’s within the last couple years. Neo, neodymium. I hope I’m pronouncing that correctly. It’s used in. It’s used in strong magnets for wind turbines, electric vehicles, vehicles and military applications. Dysporium, or dysprosium, rather, I think that’s how you pronounce it.

Enhances heat resistance in magnets. Essential for jet engines and nuclear reactors. Terbium, used in high performance magnets and green flags. Phosphors for LED lighting and displays. Yttrium, essential for lasers, superconductors and medical imaging technologies. Land lanthanum, used in battery production, especially for hybrid cars. Cerium, a major component in catalytic converters and glass polishing. Try. I invite you guys to try to pronounce these. These are used in high strength alloys, aircraft engines and permanent magnets. Europium, critical for red and blue phosphors in LED screens and medical imaging. Samarium, found in permanent magnets, nuclear reactors and precision guided weapons.

Gadolybium or gadolinium. It’s used in MRI contrast agents, data storage and neutron shielding. I don’t know if any of you Guys have ever had an MRI where they had to do like a contrast? I’ve, I’ve had that, I had to have that done a couple of times. And it’s, they inject that with you and it’s like a, you get this really warm feeling. But it’s, it’s not, it’s not, it’s not really fun because, you know, they’re injecting me with that crap. But in any event, the other strategic minerals associated with Greenland’s rare earth elements are uranium.

It’s present in the. I, again, I, I, I’m gonna try here, Cavanafeld. But it’s subject to Greenland’s uranium mining ban since 2021. So Greenland has a uranium mining ban. You can’t, you actually can’t mine it. Zirconium used in nuclear reactors and ceramics and tantalum, Tantalum which is found in some Greenlandic deposits used in electronics and aerospace components. So that’s kind of the, that’s, that’s the crux those, I mean it’s very, very rich in the, in the, in those rare earth minerals and whatnot. So, so kind of, in conclusion and the implications here, it’s kind of a win, win economic partnership because if the United States is able to invest in mining infrastructure, trade research and security, they can support Greenland’s economic development while strengthening its own position in the Arctic.

Greenland would benefit from economic diversification, job creation and technological, technological advancement. I also believe that a lot of people might go up there to work. So it would be a lot of job creation for Americans, especially during, I mean, they may only be able to mine it in like certain times of the year for maybe like six months out of the year just because of, just because of the snow and the weather and whatnot. But certainly there would be significant operations going on up there. So this, this would make Greenmark Greenland much less dependent on Denmark and thus vulnerable to Chinese influence.

So that is kind of why I, Trump is really, really big on wanting Greenland. So they, you know, when I, when I was going to, going through this, I was really kind of shocked to see the quantities and, and just, just, just the amount of natural resources that are available. And, and also I, I don’t really, you know, I, I, I kind of feel as though we’re heading into a time when we’re not really going to be at war. I feel like we’re coming into a, times of a really, really long peace. I think the world is tired of war.

But you, but you’re still going to have to have natural resources. Especially if we get some technological, you know, technology releasing of you know, for, like, for like you know, free energy, zero point energy, anti gravitic technology, things of that nature. A lot of, a lot of these minerals are going to be necessary for the advancement of those and having Greenland would be a, it would be a huge coup. So I’m going to check the chat here in Greenland. I’ve heard there are lots of underground tunnels and dumps. I, that is, that is a distinct possibility obviously because you can’t really, you know, if you’re exposed to the weather.

It’s very similar to Antarctica. You know, you don’t have in, in Antarctica. There’s everything is underground in Antarctica. So yeah, there’s, there’s. I, I believe that. So Jabrajo says I found something about an old under ice nuclear facility called Camp Century that was built and abandoned in the late 50s and underground city. It was pretty interesting. Any. I, I haven’t heard anything about that. We’re really, are we really? And we are led to believe China is our enemy. I, I think, I think the CCP is definitely our enemy. I don’t know about China per se and I, and I do think that there is a difference between the two.

Yeah, you have to hold your, hold your jaw to, to pronounce it. Oh, I didn’t, I, I’m sorry Levi, you, while you posted a few things here, let me go up and kind of start from the beginning. Was it the club of Rome that divided the world into 10 regions? How is this term conspiracy applicable in 2025 after the 2020 coordinated global lockdown? That is an answer I do not know. While in the chaos of the digital convergence I is rapidly approaching and I agree with that. I absolutely agree with that. Thanks for discussing this geopolitical maneuvering.

Doubt DJT has much say in this. Maybe I, I, I don’t know about that actually. I, I think DJT is going to have a significant say in this because he’s the one who is, he’s kind of the one who’s bringing it to the fore and actually talking about it. So we’ll see. DARPA was collaborating with Wuhan Lab. America has thousands of Wuhan institutes on U. S College campuses. That very well could be true. I, I don’t know the answer to that and I, okay, now I understand the context of what you said. You said we are led to believe China is our enemy.

So see. Yeah, order at K. Order out of chaos. We are in their, in their Age of Aquarius. The Second enlightenment, racing towards transhumanism to post humanism. The Trump actually make an offer to buy Greenland in 2019 or did he just float the idea? That’s a great question. I don’t know. I think it was more of a floating of the idea, but I, I don’t know. I don’t know exactly. In fact, let me, let me look it up, actually. See here. Did Trump try to buy Greenland in 2019? See? Yes. In 2019, during his first term as president, Trump expressed interest in purchasing Greenland Denmark.

The proposal was firmly rejected by both the Danish and Greenlandic. Officials with Denmark’s prime minister Met Fergan Frederickson labeling the idea as absurd. Following this rejection, Trump canceled the planned state visit to Denmark. In late 2024, Trump reiterated his interest in acquiring Greenland, describing its ownership and control as an absolute necessity for US national security. This renewed proposal was again met with term refusal from both Denmark and Greenland, with Greenland’s prime minister stating that the island is not for sale and never will be for sale. So. Well, we’ll see about that. We will see if that actually is what happens.

So anyway, okay, well guys, that’s, it’s kind of a short video tonight because, you know, this is just a, looks like I said this is a test run. I’m not gonna talk this to hear myself talk. I’m looking through the comments section. I don’t see any, I don’t see any questions and whatnot. So I, let me know how you liked the presentation. Let me know if in the comment section kind of what you think about, about Trump and the, the idea of, of purchasing Greenland. You know, I see a lot of things going on, you know, from a, from a political standpoint.

I know Trump is, I heard Trump was going to completely do an executive order and get rid of the Department of Education. I saw that he made it, made it illegal for trans men to compete with women in sports. I thought that was a great idea. So, and Yarn says, yeah, I think it’s a hub for their human trafficking. And that’s, that’s a distinct possibility. I think the human trafficking is far worse than we can possibly imagine. And it, it goes on everywhere, especially in areas that, that are remote because they can, they can do a lot of things and get away with them.

So, and then Jared us says, my best guess is he’d be doing it to keep China from getting the lithium. And that’s a distinct possibility as well. I, I, I think that, that, I think he’s, you know, not just the lithium is everything. So, and I don’t believe that the list I provided was. Was complete. That was just. It was kind of like the main. The main ones that are out there in terms of the rare earth elements and whatnot, so. All right, guys, well, that’s gonna kind of do it for tonight. I don’t have much else, so if there’s no other questions, I’m gonna kind of sign off and let y’all go.

Enjoy your evening. But just kind of wanted to test this out. Thanks for being my guinea pigs and let me know how I did. So I look forward to doing some more of these presentations. Obviously with the idea of getting them. Making them a little bit longer, but, you know, I don’t know, maybe. Maybe. Maybe shorter is. Might be. Might be a little bit better. So let me know what you guys think. I look forward to your feedback and I will see you guys tomorrow. Have a great night, everybody.
