And I guess my response is then you need to get your Governor involved. You need to make it political at the next election. You need to get your County Commissioners involved. You need to get, and the problem is you don’t have a big enough contingent because I promise you, if you go outside of your Sheriff’s office with a million people, they’ll pay attention to you, I promise. When you go with five, and two of them people think they’re nuts, whether it’s two or not is a different matter, but then it’s very hard to gain traction.
And our system is designed for more people to be involved and actively engaged in this stuff. And when there’s only the few, and the rest are an immoral society, it gets really, really tough. What constitutional Sheriff is in Nevada? That might take a report. I’d try Jesse. What’s his last name? Watts Sheriff Mack? Yep. J.J. Watts. Sheriff Watts. That’s where I would start. In Eureka County. But again, when you say what, you know, in Nevada, I mean, that’s a state, but again, you got county jurisdictions. And if it’s not in this county, I don’t think you’ll look at it.
Sheriff, do you? Yeah, I don’t know. I hope so. You know, the sheriffs have the authority to do the investigations. And then, thank you in Eureka, Clark County. Okay, so yeah, they’ve got, they can do it. The sheriffs can do the investigations like Sheriff Lamb had done. Amen. And so now you need somebody with the guts to prosecute. And some people say, well, maybe it should be funneled to the AG. The Democrat AG in Arizona is not going to do it. And that’s why we got to have guts from local prosecutors to do the job that the politicians won’t do.
All right. They say, I was just told that the sheriffs don’t do the investigations. So my question back, if a sheriff tells me that, I would say, who does investigations? Well, and the grand juries can help with that. No question. And the county attorney can call out the grand jury. So yes, do it. Great. Love it. Um, I would say that sheriffs can do the investigation. Now, maybe they’re saying they won’t do them. And to some degree, you know, it says again, when he says prosecutors, though, prosecutors don’t do the investigation. Prosecutors accept the case where there’s enough evidence.
Let’s just say this. I have a case where I make an alleged. Well, they can decide, I’m not going to take Sam’s alleged idea. I’m not going to go with that. On the other hand, if I come back and bring probable cause where I bring some kind of evidence, then it’s the sheriff’s duty to really look into that evidence. Where he has discretion is whether he thinks there’s enough evidence to start the ball rolling or not. But a prosecutor doesn’t start all that sheriff, do they? They start a lot of it. Of course, the entire the entire issue is started with an investigation.
And that can be any investigator who knows or believes that a crime was committed in his jurisdiction. So there’s 15 counties in Arizona. There’s 15 sheriffs. If Alejandro Mayorkas did anything that caused a criminal result in Maricopa County, in Pinal County, in Cochise County, in Graham County, then any of those sheriffs have the authority to conduct an investigation. Yeah, but the question is, do prosecutors start their own investigations on their own? They can, but it’s not as often. No, yeah, most county attorneys have detectives assigned to them. And they use them usually to follow up on investigations that have already been turned into them.
But can they initiate one on their own? So what’s the role of a sheriff if then the DA or the prosecutor or whatever you want to say, that district attorney decides to go ahead and investigate something. What’s the sheriff role? The sheriff role to put them in jail as soon as they get convicted or when they get arrested, he runs the jail. Police departments don’t do that. And so we have 15 county jails in Arizona. In fact, I think only 14 because Apache and Navajo County share the same jail. So yeah, but normally the county attorney does not initiate investigations.
That would come from the sheriff or local police departments. If he needs some specific follow-up, he can assign that to one of his detectives. Is it necessary for county attorneys to have detectives? No, it’s not. Some don’t have them. But the big ones usually do. [tr:trw].
