Hello, my name is Paul, and I am the voiceover for a ministry provided to you by Jim Pugue at God Is Government called Your Daily Bread. Taken from Christ’s teaching of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6, verse 11. This is a daily devotion ministry, focused not only on uplifting Scripture, but Scripture that will grow your spiritual connection with Christ. We hope that you receive these devotions to uplift you, encourage you, but most importantly, advance your knowledge base of the Holy Scriptures. Today’s focus discussion will be on husband knowing their wives. God says we are to also know her.

Verse 7 tells us that we are to live with our wives in an understanding way. To understand is to know. We are to love her, live with her, and know her in an understanding way. Men, we are told to study two things, our Bible and our wife. You may ask why, because both are complex, difficult to read, and difficult to interpret. I know from my personal experience with my wife. I think she wants one thing when it is another. I think she wants me to say something when she wants me to listen.

I think she wants me to do something that is not what she wants at all. In my previous marriage, I had a wife and three daughters. Can you imagine for a second, as the daughters became teenagers, and all four seemed to have PMS at all different times each month, that consumed the entire month? Absolutely no break. I never knew what to expect when coming home. So when I got home, I figured the best thing was to just ask each when they started to talk to me, is this a conversation or a listening session? Men, women are very complex without hormones.

Add the hormones and we have a monster we love. It is so foreign to us that we have no way of classifying it any differently. This is the reason the Bible says for us men to know her, understand her. So here is a lesson I learned. When our wives want to talk, it is best to listen instead of trying to solve something that really needs no solving. This is a chance to get to know her. Letting her talk will tell you all about her. She does need you to fix something she hasn’t told you that a fix is in the works for us.

She doesn’t need us men to change the conversation to what we want to talk about when she is talking. She wants us to shut up and listen. She wants us to learn about her. She wants us to understand her. Many women will say, more frequently than not, that their husbands don’t understand her. And from what I have been able to observe in my life, that is mostly the honest truth. So God tells us that we are to love our wife, dwell with our wife, know our wife, and next is to honour her.

In verse 7 it tells us to grant her honour. As we stated earlier, we need to treat her as our Queen. Our wives are not just another woman. She is someone given to us to be our partner. She is to be placed above all other women and on a pedestal. We are to honour her. The word grant means to be assigned. So when we marry, we assign our wives in high esteem. Men, if we were to ask you what you do to make your wife different from any other woman, what would you say? Many of us do for other women what we don’t do for our wives.

We used to open the car door for our wives, but now we just hope she makes it in the car before we pull away. We used to walk on the outside of the curb next to the street in case a car were to swerve onto the sidewalk, we could be the first to take the hit and able to protect our wives. Other women may open the door for themselves, but our wives need to be treated as queens. When we have a queen around, we typically roll out a red carpet, open up the doors, and help escort them inside.

We will not hit the mark 100% of the time, but God tells us to honour her. She must feel special. We make her feel that way by the words we use, the actions we do, and the consideration we give to her with our undivided attention. We can make her special with our phone calls in the middle of the day just to tell her you were thinking about her. We make her special when we leave notes behind for her to find, letting her know we are thinking about her. Over time, things get routine, and we slide backward from the time we felt that we could not wait to get over to our girlfriend’s house and see her.

Pick her up and take her for a ride, and the kissing and hugging felt so good. When did it happen? Men, we got comfortable. We expected a certain process. We expected her to take care of us. We got complacent. In the process, we forgot what it was to honour her. We need to create intimacy. We need to date our wives. We need to pray with her. In First Peter 3-7, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered. We are to pray together so that our prayers, men, are not hindered.

Being heirs together means God is not going to do anything for us men if our wives are not included. Men, our prayers, regardless of what they may be for, will be a waste of time if we do not include our wives. Men, we do not have a singular relationship anymore when we get married. We are two individuals that became one flesh, meaning we are partners, husband and wife, together in everything. It now takes the two of us instead of one to go to the Lord in prayer. One of the greatest sins today is husbands not praying with their wives.

Women, if your husbands want to pray with you, do not stop him. He is fulfilling what God has told him to do, and you do not want to be the hindrance. Men, it is not the question of will your marriage work. The question is, will you work the marriage? The role of a wife in the home. There are two people that come together to make a marriage, a family and a home. It is not enough just to tell the man what he needs to do because he must do it under God’s authority or he doesn’t, but it is the man’s sole responsibility for the condition of the marriage, the family and the home.

We all need to realize it is not enough that a man does the five things previously addressed of the role of a man in the home without the wife supporting her husband in all those roles of the man. We have addressed thoroughly the man’s role in the home, but it is the woman’s responsibility to support and help her husband to make sure he is successful in meeting his responsibilities at home. There is no greater mistake a man can make than to marry the wrong woman. Proverbs 27 verse 15 NKJV, a continual dripping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.

Proverbs 21 verse 9 NKJV, better to dwell in a corner of a housetop than in a house shared with a contentious woman. Proverbs 25 verse 24 NKJV, it is better to dwell in a corner of a housetop than in a house shared with a contentious woman. Nothing can be more miserable that to spend every waking moment in the home with an evil woman. Tony Evans said in one of his conferences on this subject that the only difference between a miserable evil cantankerous woman and a pitbull dog is lipstick. So the concern for both the husband and wife is what God’s requirements are for a godly wife.

We absolutely know we will all fall short of God’s expectation, but it is what each of us, and focusing on the wife in the home now, a wife must strive to become. Even if a woman is not married, God says you are married already to him, and therefore God’s requirements are the same for a woman being single, because until you have an earthly husband you are married to God. When we reviewed the role of the man in the home we identified five responsibilities. In looking at Scripture we can identify two things a woman must do in a godly home.

The first is to help her man. This was the primary reason for creating a woman in the first place, as told to us by God in Genesis 2 verse 18 NKJV, and the Lord God said, it is not good that man should be alone, I will make him a helper comparable to him. What God did in creating Eve was to provide Adam a helper. A woman would come alongside Adam and help him and converse with him in order that Adam would achieve the plan laid out for a godly man. Just like Adam, so are we men today.

While it is our responsibility to the home, our job, we need help to make sure all goes well in the home. This help comes from our wives. The role of a good godly woman is to become such a counterpart to her husband that together they manage their responsibilities together. In order for this to occur as God planned, the woman must be by the side of her husband. Our research shows that one of the primary reasons marriages and the home fails is that the woman is not out to help her husband but using the marriage to help her.

This is totally against God’s plan for marriage and the home. She doesn’t understand her part of the relationship. Instead of becoming her husband’s partner and embellishing his esteem, she has become part of the opposition to God’s plan of marriage. She is working against the entire program of the home and is building a wedge inside the home and family. She is using marriage and the home as a launching pad for her own agenda and purpose instead of God’s. When women go down this road and lose sight that God’s first plan for her is to be her husband’s helper, then a negative atmosphere comes into the home and the marriage that permeates all issues and makes it difficult for the couple to overcome issues.

Many women find themselves in this position without even knowing it. Many women have not been taught what it is to be a helper. Many feel that to be a helper they lose their own identity. Many women feel that if they become a helper they become weak and a doormat. None of these are true in a godly home. Why did God make the women to be the helper? What is God’s definition of a helper? Why is it important that women become the helper? What are God’s blessings when the woman is aligned properly in the home? Women need to consider the fact that when God assigned the woman to be the helper, God already knew the man needed help.

Some women I bet reading this are laughing saying that that is absolutely true. My husband needs more than help. He needs, in some cases, an overhaul. Let me be the first to say, as a man we are not complete as a human being in God’s earthly kingdom. That is the reason God created women. The unity between a man and a woman makes the unity of a home, marriage and children complete. Women if you are finding fault with your husband, guess what? Who is the helper? We discuss a whole chapter in the God is Government series book 2 about God’s relationship laws.

There is no better evidence about how these laws actually work and describe the circumstances in dealing with a marriage relationship. There are few of the laws I would like to bring into this discussion. The law of cause and effect. The law of reality provides us with our ability to co-create our world using the attributes given to us by our universal source creator in the form of our spirit. It also gives us the freedom of thought for ourselves and choosing the way we wish to live this life experience. However, this freedom given to us also is governed by the law of cause and effect.

It is the teachings in the ancient texts that provide us the two principles of life, the law which is impersonal and the spirit which is personal. When we obey the spirit we can only do or think good and good alone can follow. When we wander away and do evil, the law which is neither good nor evil but is simply law must bring upon us the logical result of our thoughts and acts. In the ancient writings and biblical translations we are told that it was Moses that was given the laws of cause and effect by God himself.

Moses, the great law-giver, took the principles and regulations provided to him by source and gave them to the people which were called the law of Moses which includes the moral laws identified in the Ten Commandments. Our code of judicial laws today is based largely upon these same principles and regulations which he announced. This reason these laws have sustained themselves from ancient times through today is because Moses taught a universe law, an eternal verity which remains the same, yesterday, today and forever. The law of cause and effect was taught to us by Moses.

It was through the teachings of Jesus that completed the laws from Moses. Taken together they reveal the universal presence of love and the universal necessity of law, the law of thought. In this 28th verse of Genesis 1, God commanded man to be fruitful, multiply, replenish and subdue the earth. To do so requires man to be able to determine how this was to happen for God did not give man the specific manner by which to accomplish this but only to accomplish it. The process of determining how to do these things was through a thought process of man.

He had to not only be able to think but he had to apply certain logic not only to his thoughts but to the process itself. While we are only told of this law in the writings we were not given the details of how the principle of thought worked. The key here is in the word subdue, the process of the specific thought that God commanded man to perform. In this commandment God was actually telling man to bring under mental or emotional control his thoughts as to how to acquire the knowledge of and mastery over his material environment.

What God told man was to go do all these things but first you have to figure out how to do it. Now here is where science has had a field day of this through time. God said there was a process to this thought thing and the how was up to man to figure out. Wikipedia, the free fundamental axiomatic rules, a system of any set of axioms from which some or all axioms can be used in conjunction to logically derive theorems upon which rational discourse itself is based. The rules have a long tradition in the history of philosophy.

They are laws that guide and underline everyone’s thinking, thoughts, expressions, discussions etc. It was the Greek philosopher Aristotle who began to define the sub-laws of thought. Throughout history from Aristotle to today’s scientists and philosophers we are continuing to define the sub-laws of thought. It is not important to our understanding to review each and every one of these sub-laws of the law of thought. What is important for our understanding is that source gave us the ability to think for ourselves. The law of free will. We are only the thinkers in our own mind.

There is no one or nothing that causes us to think the way we do other than ourselves. As we come to know and understand that our thoughts are the causation factor of what experiences we have in life, thoughts are the reason or cause behind everything we experience in life. We will understand why it is so important to think in the right manner. While we were told from ancient writings to biblical translations that our thoughts and actions govern our life, our ability to choose what we want to think about is what makes us free individuals.

It is the key to freedom. Here again in Genesis 1 verse 28 God didn’t tell man how to go be fruitful multiply replenish or subdue. What he told man was to go do these things and do them as you learn how to do them. Thus not only did God give man freedom over dominion of every living thing that moved upon the earth but the ability to think on whatever he wanted. This leads us to the next law the law of focus. The law of focus. This law tells us that whatever we focus our attention on grows.

This is one law where the rubber meets the road. We are all 100% energy everything even our thoughts are energy. This means that whatever we focus on and give thought to we energize bringing to life. Another law discussed later called the law of manifestation or co-creates out of the vast field of universal energy whatever experience we are focusing on. Have you ever said to yourself my problems don’t bother me if I don’t think about them or I’m so busy feeling good that I don’t have time to feel bad. On first glance these two statements might sound ridiculous but if you think about them both contain vital truths about the way the mind works.

We are conscious and nothing else. This is a great key to success in every area of life because it means that no matter what your situation is you can change it by changing the focus of your attention. Thus wise men and women understand how crucial it is to take control of their minds and focus their attention on objects or experiences of their own choosing instead of being tossed around or influenced by outer circumstances and other people’s opinions. The law of ego. We would not have known of ego without the understanding of the knowledge of good and evil.

This is the devil inside each of us. It is likened to the serpent that convinced Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit of the tree. Our ego self was never a part of what our source gave to us. It is not part of our soul. It is something we created due to our free will of choice and thoughts. Ego produces only negative life occurrences. Ego is shown when Adam told God he was afraid because ego is fear. Fear is an illusion. It does not exist but only in our mind as we allow it to.

We are told throughout the ancient writings and the biblical translation to not be afraid because fear cannot be seen. It is ego that Eve created and enticed Adam to take of the fruit of the tree of knowledge. It is ego that has caused us in this physical form to be separated from our source. It is ego that must be removed in order to be in spirit. In a course of miracles it states the ego is fearful of you because we now know that the whole separation fallacy lies in the belief that the ego has the power to do anything.

Yet the truth is very simple. All power is of God. What is not of him has no power to do anything. When we look at ego we are seeing a delusion of nothing, a self-inflicted condition of the mind. So women, if you are finding fault with your husband, guess who the helper is. If you are saying that your husband is not the man you married, guess who the helper is. If you have said that your husband is not worth a dime, guess who the helper is. Women, you cannot complain about your husband if you are not willing or understand that the role of a man is fulfilled with his wife as his helper.

If you are not his helper, stop complaining and begin looking inward. What you sow you reap, the law of cause and effect. What you think about you become the law of thought. You cause what you are focused on, the law of focus. You are what you listen to, the law of ego. If you seek a change in your husband you must first change yourself. One cannot change anything unless they first change themselves. God made women as the helper knowing that every man needs help. If you don’t help women, then your husband will fail.

Thank you for joining us in this exploration of husbands knowing their wives. Until next time remember to keep the faith, stay strong and continue to shine your light in the world.
