I mean, at some of these gatherings—and you know, the holidays are always a big thing—at some of these gatherings, we actually, even when Grandad was alive, five generations, all hanging out together. And you know, most of us that were the daughters-in-laws, and you know, in the kitchen, doing stuff, and the kids running around, and the men outside talking about the latest pump or some mechanical thing, you know? And just a really general pandemonium. Wonderful. Anyway, I’m coming to Black Friday, and I’m doing what—I had been putting out flyers—we’re in Austin—and I had been putting out flyers that said something to the gist of, you know, Boycott Black Friday, let’s not turn this thing into a commercial thing, no black, no shopping.
It’s a no-shopping day, right? So, I’m coming to the family—this is my first Thanksgiving with them—and I’m handing out these flyers to everybody, and they’re all really, to their credit, they’re very polite. And they’re like, oh, that’s interesting. And then I’m, you know, hanging out and watching, and after the dinner is done and everything washed up, mostly the women, but actually a bunch of the guys were getting in, and they pull out the newspapers. Anybody remember newspapers? And the big sections in the middle were all these stores that had Black Friday sales, and they were all, you know, converging and planning.
And they were like, hey, well, let’s get up at 4 o’clock, we’re going to get up at 4 o’clock, and we’re going to hit Walmart first. Because, look, they’ve got these, you know, gigantic flat-screen TVs for $100 apiece, and, you know, it’s only going out to the first 100 people, so we’ve got to be—and then, okay, okay, well, after we get there— I want one of these microwaves over at Target, and then, you know, they map out this whole round of all these stores they’re going to and what they’re going to buy and everything. And they’re very sincere, and they’re like, do you want to come, Marjorie? And I’m like, nah, I’m good.
I’m going to sleep in. Anyway, you know, bless their hearts. They live their life, and I’m living mine. So, you know, now I have the Grown Network, and we’ve been running this business for a long time. And, you know, for years, I wouldn’t sell anything on Black Friday, because I was like, I just don’t want to turn this thing. And then, you know, you lose a lot of revenue if you’re not selling on Black Friday. And if you’re a nonprofit, I was talking to—who’s that guy with—it’s not the Organic Consumers Association. It’s one of these organic groups, and I wanted to do an interview with him, and it was in November.
He said, I’m sorry, I can’t. And he said, 70% of our revenue comes in for donations between Black Friday and Giving Tuesday in that time period. And he said, I just got to focus on this. And I’m like, wow, that’s interesting. And so quite a few years ago, we first started, and we did. I was like, oh, my God, yeah, you do actually make a lot of money on Black Friday. And now, like, a lot of stores can’t exist without this time period. Like, this is when they actually make enough money to get through the year.
I actually think there’s going to be a whole bunch of companies that go bankrupt this year, honestly. We’re in such an economic downturn. And Winston Churchill says, the most nutritious diet I’ve ever eaten is the words I’ve had to eat. So I’m going to go ahead and push the Black Friday specials on the Grow Network as. And this is that one terabyte hard disk with everything. It has all of the 33 Grow Network certifications on here. So chickens, rabbits, home medicine, making medicine, growing cannabis, growing mushrooms, greenhouses, everything that I’ve spent time creating. And I’ve been to most of the homesteaders that created the courses.
I’ve been to their places, invented it, and I actually outlined the content in it. Anyway, and then my entire YouTube channel, my sub-stack channel to date, every e-book the Grow Network has ever created. Gosh, you know, just all kinds of data. All the summits that I’ve ever done, right? I’ve done, I think, 11 of them. And each one has, you know, 35 to 40 presentations all on home medicine, growing food with all kinds of experts from all over. And then just a whole bunch of, like, I’m a prepper. So I’ve got thousands of e-books on military survival handbooks and the Boy Scout manuals and the Encyclopedia Britannica, the 1911 version, because it started to get wonky after that.
And, you know, really all kinds of crazy biological, chemical, nuclear warfare protection, you know, small team tactics. Guys, you know, more and more, you know, just all kinds of off-grid survival stuff and preparedness stuff and canning manuals. Anyway, I think you get the idea. So it turns out, we’ve gotten quite a few orders in, and it turns out this exact drive is a little bit hard to source in quantities larger than 5 or 10. So I may end up sending you a different drive. I promise you it’ll be, you know, as rugged.
It will definitely be a solid state drive because those are better. It’ll definitely be terabyte. It’ll definitely be compatible with Microsoft, Apple, and Linux. And I will make it as ruggedized as possible. USB-C and A plugs and input. And, yeah. Oh, well. I’ve got a link down below. We’ve got a special on it. After this, it will go up. Just at least 15 years figuring out and creating content in one terabyte. It’s almost kind of ridiculous. My whole, a lot of my, big chunk of my life can be summarized in this small thing. Anyway, there’s your Black Friday humor.
